Equipment Calibration

A licensed surveyor is required to use surveying equipment that has been compared to a standard of measurement.

Some SA Surveys require electronic distance measurement (EDM) equipment used on any survey to be calibrated:

  • at intervals not exceeding 12 calendar months
  • after every repair to all or part of such equipment
  • by comparison to a baseline approved by the Office of the Surveyor-General of South Australia.

To help licensed surveyors calibrate EDM equipment, the Office of the Surveyor-General of South Australia maintains an EDM calibration handbook, EDM calibration software, and  EDM calibration baselines in South Australia.

The latest EDM calibration software can be obtained by contacting DTI.SurveyOperations@sa.gov.au

We acknowledge and respect Aboriginal peoples as the state's first peoples and nations, and recognise them as traditional owners and occupants of land and waters in South Australia. Further, we acknowledge that the spiritual, social, cultural and economic practices of Aboriginal peoples come from their traditional lands and waters, that they maintain their cultural and heritage beliefs, languages and laws which are of ongoing importance, and that they have made and continue to make a unique and irreplaceable contribution to the state. We acknowledge that Aboriginal peoples have endured past injustice and dispossession of their traditional lands and waters.
